We are looking for a commercially minded and proactive senior IP lawyer to join our IP legal team at Entain, one of the world’s largest sports betting, gaming and interactive entertainment groups. What you will do

        IP legal strategist: You will help build the IP legal function at Entain, designing and implementing IP strategy and processes to protect Entain IP and working with senior stakeholders across the Group to cement the IP legal function as a trusted business partner to Entain’s 25+ brands. More specifically, you will help devise protection and enforcement strategies for our diverse brand portfolio, from established and iconic gaming brands like Ladbrokes and bwin to fast-growing sports media brands like 365Scores. You will also advise on IP dispute strategy, working with external counsel to mastermind how Entain approaches brand and tech disputes and working with senior stakeholders to negotiate settlement or, if necessary, leading on litigation to defend Entain’s IP rights.

        IP innovation partner: You will be working closely with our technology and product teams and external patent attorneys on innovation capture and ensure our market-leading products are properly guarded and commercialised.

        IP legal guru: You will counsel key stakeholders on a broad range of IP matters, ranging across copyright, trade marks, design rights, patents and trade secrets and spanning 31 territories. You will assess IP risk involved in potential acquisitions, run infringement analysis across new brands and products and advise our marketing teams on fresh campaign ideas and materials. You will be the go-to expert for our stakeholders and Governance colleagues, guiding them through complex IP law on a daily basis, and creating and rolling out structured IP training programmes. You will also be a key ally to marketing teams, advising them on IP rights and risks surrounding marketing on all platforms, especially in relation to global events and partnerships.

        IP guardian: You will be working alongside external counsel on managing Entain’s 2000+ strong trade mark portfolio, including instructing on contentious registry proceedings and helping senior stakeholders decide when to act and when to settle. And in this digital world where online copycats are everywhere, you will lead the charge against online brand infringement. You will also be critical to protecting our industry leading platform and ensuring that our innovations, such as ARCTM, our proprietary Advanced Responsibility & Care safer gambling AI, are properly captured and protected.

Who you are

         A fast learner who can quickly familiarise themselves with Entain’s brands and technology and understand Entain’s business priorities.

        A highly commercial and pragmatic advisor, able to balance a varied workload and competing stakeholders and find solutions to IP legal issues that make sense for Entain’s business. The ability to prioritise business needs and work to internal and external deadlines is a must.

        A confident communicator and supportive business partner who can deliver advice succinctly and build strong working relationships with Entain’s stakeholders and business partners. It is important that you are keen to build your network here and establish yourself with the Governance function and the business as a trusted member of our team.

        Above all else, a team player who values collaboration and teamwork. Someone who can: (i) understand and deliver the IP team’s goals to put in place robust IP legal infrastructure to properly protect and enforce Entain’s IP and advise the business on IP risk: (ii) appropriately delegate to and guide/train/coach junior team members; (iii) support and report into the Group Head of IP.
