The Role in a Nutshell:

This role is responsible for the day-to-day administration of multiple small to medium sized payrolls outsourced in various locations globally (UK, Europe, North America). The role covers data gathering, validation and transfer to providers, along with validation of payroll outputs to ensure the accuracy of the company’s bi-monthly and monthly payrolls. Acting as a point of contact for internal and external partners, the role requires a highly professional individual, with a keen eye for detail, who can analyse and present data clearly and effectively.  

What you'll be doing: 
  • Processing payroll in various global locations working within a team to deliver payrolls across 6 countries processed by outsourced payroll partners covering 1,000+ employees, with the potential for future growth
  • Working with teams across the organisation, such as People Services, Reward, Tax and Finance, to ensure accurate and timely processing of payrolls, and off-cycle adjustments as needed
  • Extracting pre-payroll reports and gathering data for payrolls to ensure all relevant employee data is compiled and validated before transferring to outsourced payroll partners each period following the agreed timelines
  • Extraction and analysis of payroll outputs from providers and supporting query handling
  • Providing excellent customer service for colleagues and business partnersproviding post-payroll reports, responding to emails and more complex payroll cases in a timely and efficient manner
  • Working with Finance and Treasury teams to ensure the required funds are transferred to providers on the agreed schedule
  • Supporting Finance teams with payroll queries as required
  • Supporting ongoing work with local country tax agencies to ensure filing compliance
  • Staying up to speed with payroll impacting legislation/best practices to ensure accurate processing of payrolls and identify areas of improvement
  • Assisting with global year-end tax reporting requirements
  • Supporting with data gathering and analysis across all payrolls for ad hoc payroll data requests/auditing from various areas of the business
  • Contribute to continuous process improvement and support the writing of the associated documentation, including process maps, work instructions and ‘how to guides.
What you'll need to have:
  • Graduate CIPP / working towards a CIPP or equivalent qualification desirable or relevant payroll processing experience 
  • Good understanding of UK employment tax legislation, its application and best practice 
  • A good understanding of payroll processes
  • Excellent communication and written skills 
  • Intermediate level Excel skills (complex formulas, vlookups, pivot tables) 
  • Experience of Oracle HR and Payroll systems or similar systems is desirable 
  • Good problem solving and data analytical skills, with high attention to details 
  • Excellent at organising/prioritising tasks and managing time effectively 
  • Experience of working across multiple payrolls 
  • Experience of working on outsourced payrolls and/or global payroll processing is a plus 
  • An understanding of outsourced payroll processes would be ideal but not essential
