About The Role

Entain is one of the world’s largest sports betting and gaming groups. Via our unique proprietary technology platform, we offer sports betting, casino, poker, and bingo and operate some of the industry’s most popular online brands including bwin, Sportingbet, partypoker, partycasino, and Foxy Bingo.

We are looking for a Senior MS SQL Expert to work together with database and software developers maintaining and improving a technology-leading and highly demanding database environment with high-end machines and storage systems in the backend.

In this role, you will be responsible for performance troubleshooting and tuning of SQL Server queries, procedures and commands and improving scalability. Close collaboration with development and application teams will be key to achieving optimal results.

What you’ll be doing:

  • SQL Server performance troubleshooting and tuning
  • Ongoing development and optimization of our systems
  • Design, implementation, and maintenance of database software modules in the OLTP area
  • Database design, database security, database management
  • Technical and conceptual solutions as well as further development of the standards
  • Participation in the 24x7 stand duty rota (usually after 6-12 months)

What we need from you:

  • Completed technical education
  • Fluent English (minimum B1) is a prerequisite
  • Experience and proficiency with performance troubleshooting tools and methodologies
  • Reading and analyzing execution plans and waiting tasks
  • Experience working with Extended Events and Query Store
  • Excellent Transact-SQL knowledge and query tuning know-how
  • Good knowledge of state-of-the-art relational database systems, MSSQL (up to SQL Server 2019)
  • Large database and transaction processing experience
  • Good communication skills
  • Motivated and willing to learn
  • Accurate and responsibly
  • Passion for IT
  • Team player who can work self-contained if necessary
