Role Purpose:
We are looking for an experienced and passionate payroll professional with a can-do attitude to join our payroll team in Nottingham.
Working as part of a fast-paced team and within a wider HR Function you will provide a professional, high-quality service. You will be responsible for effectively and consistently operating payroll procedures and payroll related pension procedures in a timely and accurate manner as determined by the Company Payroll Policy for all employees. You will be able to operate Oracle payroll/HR system in accordance with the current controls and procedures.
As a Payroll Analyst you will have a keen eye for detail and a desire for accuracy of employee pay. You will have a strong understanding of legislation to ensure pay is compliant with HMRC and third party regulations. You will be confident in communication with a variety of departments in order to achieve our desired goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyse and verify all payroll and pension documentation received from authorised parties prior to payroll processing.
- Accurately prepare payroll for 14,000 4-weekly paid and 1,300 monthly paid colleagues, taking direct responsibility for a specific subset of colleagues.
- Analyse, verify and reconcile the payroll output on a weekly basis. Compare data to previous periods to highlight discrepancies.
- Identify, investigate and resolve any payroll discrepancies using payroll reports, and working across teams where necessary to rectify any issues.
- Ensure that payment of wages/salaries is processed correctly into employee’s bank accounts on the due date according to the company's timetable.
- Clearly and professionally respond to escalated queries using the Case Management system, in accordance with quality and competency frameworks.
Key Skills & Knowledge:
- Competent with spreadsheets and with handling and analysing large volumes of data.
- Excellent mathematical skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of PAYE/NIC and statutory payments and recoveries.
- Familiarity with benefits and other wage deductions.
- Knowledge of payroll procedures.
- Familiarity with Oracle Cloud HCM payroll software (preferred).
- Proficiency with MS Office. Strong Excel Skills (Vlookup, Pivot table, etc).
- Experience working with a case management system.
- Multi-tasking abilities.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
