WHAT YOU’LL DO

Within this role, you’ll partner the Retail Operations Director, and lead day-to-day a team of Retail People Partners. You will deliver on the Retail People Plan that supports the overall Core Retail Plan. You will deputise as required for the Retail People Director, representing the Retail HR team on business and HR projects.
 
You’ll really be in the thick of it in this role, no two days will be the same! You’ll need to be able to think quickly and broadly, with the ability to forward plan but just as important will be your ability to change your plans and react quickly to situations as they arise. You’ll need to think on your feet and keep alevel head while others are looking to you for some pragmatic advice - often at considerable pace!
 
Responsibilities include:
  • Partner the Retail Operations Director to execute and embed a people plan that underpins the retail strategy
  • Provide coaching, counsel, support, and technical expertise on all HR matters, effectively partnering the Retail Operations Director and other retail senior leaders
  • Hold retail leaders to account in the delivery of their own plans and in creating a performance management culture to drive business improvement and improve employee engagement
  • Manage a team of Retail People Partners on a day-to-day basis, including supporting the team’s development
  • Ensure that all activity, both ‘business as usual’ and project work, is delivered efficiently, effectively and to a high standard
  • Support in recruitment and selection processes for key hires e.g. Regional Operations Managers.
  • Be a champion and custodian of the highest standards of CSR, DEI, Compliance, Regulatory and Legal Requirements; ensuring our business is inclusive and operates to the highest possible standards

WHO YOU ARE 

  • Strong communication and influencing skills, and an ability to adapt both style and approach
  •  Be able to work at pace in an ever-changing environment
  • Ability and willingness to provide honest feedback and challenge others constructively
  • Experience to use data and insight to influence and make strategic decisions
  • Confident to handle complex issues and a capability to make sound judgement decisions in time pressured situations
  • Good commercial acumen
  • Strong at planning, and organising, with the ability to effectively multitask
  • Ability to influence and manage senior internal stakeholders, and centres of excellence
  • Broad HR technical knowledge
  • Experience of leading and developing a team
  • Self-motivated with a relentless drive and passion to make improvements and achieve results
Desired:
  •  Experience of working within an Ulrich business partner model and within a matrix model
  •  Successfully lead on key organisational changes
  •  Experience in a fast paced Retail environment
WHERE YOU'LL WORK:
This is a hybrid role in which you'll support the UK Retail Estate so will include working from home, visits to our Stratford office, frequent travel and overnights stays where needed. Base location is very flexible.
